SPECIAL SPACE PLAY THERAPY
EMPOWERING KIDS

The therapeutic space and therapeutic relationship in Play Therapy aims to create the environment for self-discovery and growth for children who attend.

"Play Therapy provides a safe space for young people to express their thoughts and feelings non-directively through play and creative arts. It is a safe space which can help children who struggle to understand how they are feeling or are finding it hard to put their experience into words."

ABOUT ME

My name is Katie and I set up Special Space Play Therapy after a long career in mainstream and SEND teaching. I am a registered PTUK Play Therapist working in Mid-Sussex and Brighton and Hove areas, including Worthing and Shoreham.

I have a wealth of experience in working with neurodiverse young people and families, including Autism, ADHD and Pathological Demand Avoidance (PDA) as well as children with Special Educational Needs (SEND).

How I work

I work alongside families and in schools to support children and young people with different challenges and needs such as family breakdown, early trauma, low self-esteem and anxiety and feelings around identity.

Accredited professional

I am a member of PTUK which manages the register of Play and Creative Arts Therapists and is accredited by the Professional Standards Authority. It is the largest, most progressive Play Therapy professional organisation in the UK.
